BuildOps has secured $127 million in a Series C funding round to further develop its platform tailored for commercial contractors. The investment pushes the company’s valuation to $1 billion, positioning it as a unicorn in the sector.
The company aims to enhance its use of artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline operations such as project management, dispatching, invoicing, and service coordination. With this new capital, BuildOps plans to expand its AI capabilities, particularly focusing on predictive analytics, scheduling optimization, and real-time project tracking.
BuildOps currently serves contractors throughout the United States and Canada. Its platform supports professionals in the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical fields, offering tools designed to address staffing shortages, rising costs, and operational inefficiencies.
“Our conversations with contractors reveal consistent challenges, from labor shortages to outdated technology,” said Alok Chanani, CEO of BuildOps. “We see an opportunity to provide solutions that help professionals manage their workflow more effectively.”
The Series C round was led by Meritech Capital Partners. Commenting on the investment, Meritech’s Founding Partner Paul Madera noted, “The commercial contractor market remains largely underserved when it comes to comprehensive enterprise software solutions. BuildOps addresses this gap by offering a platform that improves visibility and control from the shop floor to the job site.”
The broader home improvement industry has also shifted focus towards professional contractors. Retail chains like Home Depot and Lowe’s have emphasized pro customers in recent earnings reports, responding to a slowdown in DIY spending. Both companies are investing in digital tools and services aimed at enhancing the contractor experience through features such as job site deliveries, bulk pricing, and loyalty programs.
As BuildOps continues its growth, the company plans to expand its AI offerings and product suite in the upcoming year.
