Concrete4Change (C4C), a UK-based advanced materials company, has successfully raised £2.5M in Seed funding. The funding round, spearheaded by Zacua Ventures, brings the total investment to £4.5M, which includes £1.5 million in grant funding.
The primary focus of utilizing this investment is to advance C4C’s technology from the laboratory setting to pilot projects. Key strategic investors involved in this expansion include concrete manufacturers such as Goldbeck and Siam Cement Group.
Co-founded by Dr. Sid Pourfalah, Dr. Michael Wise, and Dalraj Nijjar, Concrete4Change stands out as an advanced materials startup, pioneering innovative technology for the mineralization of CO2 in concrete. The company boasts a proprietary technology that not only captures CO2 permanently but also mineralizes it within concrete structures. C4C achieves this by utilizing a carrier material to capture CO2, and the loaded material is seamlessly incorporated into fresh concrete as an additive. This groundbreaking approach results in concrete that is 20% stronger, acting as a CO2 sink, preventing any leakage even after demolition.
