The cement industry is notorious for its environmental impact, contributing a substantial portion of global carbon emissions. Nagra’s concern about this issue, coupled with the industry’s overlooked status, inspired him to establish Furno and address these pressing challenges.

Furno’s solution involves the design of smaller, more flexible kilns that offer greater energy efficiency compared to conventional models. By reducing both capital and operating costs, Furno aims to make sustainable cement production more accessible, particularly in developing economies.

By leveraging combustive gases and precise flame control, Furno achieves emission reductions of over 70%, marking a substantial improvement over existing technologies.
Moreover, Furno’s modular approach opens up opportunities for on-site cement production and the use of recycled materials, further enhancing its environmental sustainability.
This groundbreaking initiative has garnered significant attention and support, with Furno securing a $6.5 million seed round led by Energy Capital Ventures, alongside contributions from Cantos, Neotribe, and O’Shaughnessy Ventures.
Already, Furno’s approach has attracted interest from ready-mix concrete companies, offering them newfound control over their supply chains and market dynamics.
