Gendo, a London-based AI platform for architectural design, has raised €5.1 million in a Seed funding round. The investment was co-led by PT1 and LEA Partners, with additional backing from Concept Ventures and Koro Capital. This round follows a pre-seed funding of €1 million secured just four months earlier.
Founded in 2022 by architectural designer George Proud and software engineer Will Jones, Gendo aims to streamline the process of architectural visualisation. The platform leverages AI to generate high-quality images from sketches, 2D drawings, or text prompts, significantly reducing the time and cost of traditional rendering methods. Users can produce customisable, detailed visualisations in an average of eight minutes, a speed that outpaces conventional methods by more than 100 times.
Gendo has already garnered a user base of over 3,500, who collectively have generated more than 50,000 images for 5,000 projects. Prominent architecture firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects, KPF, David Chipperfield Architects, and Benoy are among its early adopters. The company has also brought on Patrik Schumacher, Principal at Zaha Hadid Architects, as an advisor to guide the development of its enterprise-focused offerings.
The newly raised funds will be directed towards enhancing Gendo’s AI tools and introducing features tailored to enterprise users, such as custom workflows and licensing options. This strategic expansion aligns with Gendo’s goal of becoming a core tool in architectural visualisation.
Speaking about the funding, George Proud, Co-founder and CEO of Gendo, highlighted the platform’s rapid growth and validation from the industry. “This investment enables us to maintain our scaling trajectory and position Gendo as a central tool for creating architectural visualisations,” he said.
Patrik Schumacher noted the platform’s potential to improve efficiency and creativity for architects: “Gendo’s professional AI tools represent a significant advancement for the discipline, offering productivity gains and enhanced creative flexibility.”
Investor Nikolas Samios, Managing Partner at PT1, praised the company’s focus on the architectural sector, stating, “Gendo has effectively harnessed AI advancements to deliver industry-specific workflows, ensuring strong product-market fit.”
