Proptechbuzz: Thank you for joining us today, Angie! To start, could you tell us a bit about the origins of ATechX and what motivated you to launch this venture?
Angie Mahtaney: Thank you for having me! ATechX was founded with the vision of revolutionizing the real estate sector through the adoption of technology. We know that early stage companies need capital and business to scale. We saw a significant opportunity in the European Proptech market to create a program that provides product ready companies the opportunity to earn pilots and business, and partner with some of the best known Proptech VCs to accelerate a startup’s growth journey. The mission is to be a real catalyst for change in the industry.

Angie Mahtaney: Our approach is multi-faceted. We provide the two things early stage startups need most – access to business and access to capital, we believe, this combined with the mentorship and support to access this business and capital can be a powerful enabler for scale. Our goal is take an ecosystem approach where innovative ideas can thrive and drive the future
Proptechbuzz: It’s great to hear about such comprehensive support. Can you elaborate on the types of startups or projects ATechX is looking to collaborate with?

We look for projects that demonstrate a clear RoI to the customer, a strong team, and defensible solutions that can make a substantial impact on the industry.
Proptechbuzz: How does ATechX identify and select the startups and projects for its programs?
Angie Mahtaney: Our selection process is quite rigorous. We evaluate each startup from two perspectives – a deployment lens and an investment lens. We take a deep look at the problem they’re solving, the technology, and the team’s capabilities. This involves reviewing applications, conducting interviews, conducting financial analysis, and assessing the feasibility of the projects. We focus on finding initiatives that align with our mission and have the potential to drive significant advancements in our business.
Proptechbuzz: What role do you see ATechX playing in shaping the future of Proptech in Europe?
Angie Mahtaney: We envision ATechX as a driving force for change in the European Proptech landscape. By offering resources, fostering innovation, and creating a supportive community, we aim to promote the adoption of new technologies and practices that will redefine the real estate industry’s future.
Proptechbuzz: How do you measure the impact of ATechX’s initiatives on the Proptech ecosystem?
Angie Mahtaney: We measure our impact through various metrics, including the growth of our startups (in sales and in valuation), the business we’re able to provide them (which also implies the impact they’re having on our business). We also seek feedback from our participants to continuously refine our programs and better meet the needs of the industry.
Proptechbuzz: Collaboration is essential in any ecosystem. How does ATechX foster partnerships between startups, investors, and other stakeholders?
Angie Mahtaney: We fully understand the importance of building an ecosystem, so we hope to facilitate partnerships through a range of activities, including pitch days, networking sessions, mentorship from industry leaders, and industry conferences. These events are designed to bring stakeholders together, encourage the exchange of ideas, and explore new opportunities. The medium-long term goal is to create a platform where our portfolio companies can derive value from collaborating with each other.
