Knight Dragon, the developer behind the ambitious 17,500-home Greenwich Peninsula project, has recently revealed its new Chief Executive Officer. Matt Hawkins, formerly a development director at Mapeley, will be taking the reins from the retiring Richard Margree, who has steered the company for the past three decades.
For the last 12 years, Margree led the development of the flagship Greenwich Peninsula scheme, covering 48 acres and featuring 17,500 homes, with construction undertaken by Mace. Hawkins, bringing with him 25 years of experience collaborating with joint ventures and international private equity firms, is poised to lead the next phase of growth and expansion for Greenwich Peninsula.
Sammy Lee, the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong-based developer, emphasized Hawkins’ extensive career track record in residential, commercial, and hospitality schemes. Lee stated, “Matt’s wealth of multi-sector, prestigious development experience aligns seamlessly with our flagship project.”
In 2022, Mace secured the exclusive rights for the £2 billion construction deal, covering 21 projects within the Greenwich Peninsula scheme. Ranging from a 34-story tower to smaller eight-story structures, the 10-year contract is being executed in collaboration with cost consultant Gardiner & Theobald.
