Kraaft, a messaging platform tailored for the construction industry, has raised €13 million in its Series A funding round. The company, founded in 2020 by Marc Nègre, Cédric Boidin, and Thomas Reygagne, aims to enhance collaboration and streamline workflows on construction sites.
The funding round was led by Dawn Capital, a prominent B2B software investor. Other participants included Brick & Mortar Ventures, Chalfen Ventures, Stride VC, and OSS Ventures. Norman Fiore, co-founder and General Partner at Dawn Capital, highlighted the importance of simplifying work processes in construction, emphasizing Kraaft’s potential to improve the working lives of professionals in the field.
Guillaume Bazouin, Partner at Brick & Mortar Ventures, noted that Kraaft bridges the gap between field and office operations. He praised its user-friendly platform for replacing outdated tools, enhancing collaboration, and boosting productivity.
Kraaft’s focus is on tackling productivity stagnation in the $13 trillion global construction industry, which accounts for 7% of global gross output. Despite its scale, the sector has lagged in digital adoption, with only 1-2% of revenue invested in IT compared to 3-5% in other industries. The platform seeks to address barriers such as limited digital literacy among frontline workers and the absence of industry-specific, user-friendly software.
Kraaft requires no training and supports enhanced traceability, resulting in a 15% improvement in managing change orders. It combines familiar messaging features with construction-specific tools, such as photo geolocation, document management, customizable reporting, and AI-driven workflows, enabling seamless communication between field and office teams.
Initially designed for factory communication, Kraaft gained traction in the construction sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the company shifted its focus entirely to construction and experienced rapid growth, raising €3.2 million in a seed round and tripling its user base to over 1,000 companies.
Currently, Kraaft operates in five languages—English, Spanish, German, Italian, and French—and facilitates over 1 million messages monthly. The platform has secured agreements with major European construction firms, including SAUR, NGE, SPIE CityNetworks, Ramery, Serfim, Sade, and Gagneraud.
Looking ahead, Kraaft plans to introduce features such as planning and timesheets for project management, API integrations with platforms like Procore, and AI-powered workflow automation. Co-founder Marc Nègre expressed enthusiasm about the next stage of growth, emphasizing the positive feedback from users and the potential to transform productivity in construction.
