In a recent announcement on January 10, 2023, Manchester, UK residents Shannon Conway and Mike Nicholson disclosed the launch of their latest venture, Picture This – a purpose-driven residential development initiative.
Over the next decade, Conway and Nicholson aim to establish ten Picture This communities nationally, with an initial emphasis on constructing a network of rental communities. The Manchester-based enterprise has already secured its inaugural joint venture partner and currently boasts a pipeline of 250 homes.
Shannon Conway, the co-founder of Picture This and former Residential Director at Build to Rent property developer Glenbrook, brings a wealth of experience, having played a pivotal role in establishing a pipeline of over 4,000 apartments. Meanwhile, Mike Nicholson, the other co-founder and previously a Director at JLL, led their Residential Consultancy team in Manchester, contributing to the development of mixed-tenure apartment schemes in the UK and Australia. Combined, the duo boasts 35 years of experience in the urban residential market.
Picture This focuses on supporting sustainable initiatives such as low-carbon design, crafting age-inclusive homes to enhance well-being, and championing local businesses and creatives to foster community engagement. The company plans to retain and manage its developments, ensuring a long-term commitment to the success of the communities it helps establish. While initially concentrating on rental communities, Picture This also explores diverse models for mixed-tenure schemes in the future.

More details about the first Picture This community will be revealed in the coming months as the company prepares for a planning submission later this year.
