A startup focused on no-code software solutions for the construction sector has secured $27.5 million in a Series A funding round. Sitemate, founded in 2015, aims to streamline workflows in construction, energy, and mining industries.
The funding round was led by Blackbird Ventures, with participation from existing investors Shearwater Capital and Marbruck. The investment will be allocated to product and engineering development, as well as expanding Sitemate’s global market presence and customer base.
Sitemate initially launched as Dashpivot in 2015, co-founded by Hartley Pike and Sam McDonnell, before rebranding as Construction Cloud. It adopted the Sitemate name in 2018 after raising $1.3 million and joining the Startmate accelerator program. The company’s earlier funding rounds included a $7.5 million pre-Series A in late 2023, led by Marbruck Investments, with contributions from Blackbird and Artesian.
Sitemate’s flagship platform focuses on automating project delivery records and data flows, addressing inefficiencies in traditional construction processes. The company has also extended its solutions to energy and mining sectors. Earlier this year, Sitemate acquired Nomad, a construction fleet management software company, for $2 million. The acquired platform was rebranded as Gearbelt.
Currently, Sitemate employs 140 people, a workforce that has doubled over the past year. While its primary customer base remains in Australia, the company is expanding internationally with offices in London, Vancouver, and Toronto, and plans to establish operations in Austin, Texas, by 2025.
CEO Hartley Pike highlighted the importance of flexibility in no-code systems for built-environment industries, stating, “Many companies struggle with rigid ‘all-in-one’ systems and often revert to legacy formats like Word and Excel due to their familiarity and adaptability. Our products stand out for their ease of use and customization options.”
VP of Product Strategy Sam McDonnell emphasized the company’s focus on industry-specific tools, adding, “We are committed to creating solutions tailored to built-world needs, with seamless integrations into broader business tools like accounting software, CRMs, and Microsoft Suite.”
