International real estate advisor Pembroke has successfully acquired The Lark Build to Rent scheme in the vibrant Nine Elms district of London from Europa Capital. This transaction marks Pembroke’s inaugural European residential investment.
Strategically positioned near Battersea Power Station, The Lark encompasses three interconnected buildings, constituting a premium Build to Rent development. Aiming for BREEAM excellence, each apartment within the scheme boasts an EPC rating of B and is integrated into a district heating network for optimal efficiency.
Managed by Allsop, The Lark offers 195 high-quality homes, featuring a diverse mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments catering to families and young professionals. Additionally, the development includes an affordable housing section overseen by Paragon.
The apartments are equipped with fitted wardrobes in every bedroom and top-tier kitchen appliances. Residents have the option to choose fully furnished apartments with John Lewis furniture packs, and all homes provide private outdoor spaces.
The Lark’s amenities comprise a fitness studio, coffee bar, cinema room, co-working lounge, private meeting room, and communal gardens. Residents enjoy a range of community activities and a full events calendar, along with the added benefit of upcoming local developments, including a Primary school and nursery scheduled for completion in 2025.
Matthew Knight, Vice President, European Development, and Head of UK at Pembroke, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of our first residential asset in Europe. As a business focused on acquiring, developing, and managing mixed-use environments globally, we are well-positioned to meet the demand for high-quality living spaces in prime locations, enriched with amenities, and catering to our customers’ hybrid working-from-home needs.”
Nine Elms stands as London’s largest regeneration area, boasting 6.5 million sq ft of commercial accommodation in Zone 1, poised to bring 50,000 jobs to the area. The recently extended Northern Line further enhances the appeal of the location.
Situated along the Thames, The Lark provides direct transportation links to London’s West End and South Bank. Battersea Power Station underground and Vauxhall Station are within walking distance, and nearby green spaces include Battersea Park and Clapham Common.
Knight further emphasized Pembroke’s long-term focus on exploring residential investment opportunities in core markets to address the increased demand and undersupply for premium living spaces. He highlighted The Lark as an exemplification of this strategy, citing London’s significance to Pembroke, the asset’s strong sustainability credentials, diverse amenities, and proximity to major transport links and employment hubs
