Flent, a property technology (proptech) startup, has raised Rs 6.5 crore in a pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by WEH Ventures, with additional backing from US-based 2 AM Ventures, Pareto Holdings, and several angel investors. Among the notable contributors were Sanchan S Saxena (former General Manager at Airbnb), Aneesh Reddy (Founder of Capillary Technologies), Arjun Vaidya (Founder of Dr. Vaidya’s), Shradha Sharma (Founder of YourStory), and Abhilash N (Co-founder of Ivy Homes).
The startup plans to allocate the raised capital towards building its team and advancing its platform, which is designed to streamline the rental process for working professionals in India. The company aims to simplify renting, offering faster and more efficient services through a full-stack platform.
According to Flent’s Co-founder and CEO, Shail Daswani, the current rental experience in India often forces people to make compromises on key factors like outdated homes, high deposits, and unfavorable terms. Flent is working to change this by making the renting process as convenient as booking a cab.
Flent was founded by Daswani alongside Mayank Lalwani and Rishabh Agnihotri. The company’s core offering, Flent Reserve, provides fully furnished, move-in-ready homes with no brokerage fees and minimal deposits. Customers can choose flexible rental terms ranging from three to eleven months. Flent’s service promises a simplified renting experience, allowing users to secure a home within 15 days of registering on the platform.
Rohit Krishna, General Partner at WEH Ventures, noted that Flent’s approach, which eliminates traditional brokerage fees, could set a new standard for renting in India. Krishna compared Flent’s potential impact on the rental market to the disruptions brought by companies like Amazon and Swiggy in their respective industries.
Since launching in October 2023, Flent has rolled out 120 rental units in Bangalore, ranging from 1 BHK to 3 BHK homes. The company successfully rented out all units within 10 days of their release.
