European regulators are tightening climate risk disclosure requirements, leaving real estate owners with growing compliance challenges. Norwegian proptech startup Telescope aims to shift sustainability risk from a regulatory burden to a strategic asset.
The company has secured €3.7 million in seed funding to expand its platform, which helps real estate firms assess and manage climate-related risks.
Telescope provides a SaaS platform that enables real estate companies to evaluate climate risks efficiently. Users enter property addresses, and the platform aggregates data on flooding, wildfire threats, and other environmental factors. This information helps property owners make informed decisions regarding asset management, insurance costs, and long-term sustainability planning.
Beyond climate risks, the platform assesses biodiversity-related concerns. Founder and CEO Gustav Haaland highlights that biodiversity risk has become an emerging issue in real estate, with regulations protecting natural habitats, wetlands, and agricultural land. Telescope’s technology aggregates data on red-listed species, vulnerable ecosystems, and protected areas, helping firms understand land-use constraints before development.
The company, founded in 2022, has gained traction among Norway’s largest real estate firms and is now expanding into Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands. It is also extending its services to financiers and investors who need to integrate sustainability risks into their financial planning.
Telescope’s approach goes beyond compliance by incorporating energy monitoring and transition planning. The platform outlines actionable steps for real estate companies to meet sustainability goals while reducing regulatory and financial risks.
The funding round was led by Scale Capital and Dreamcraft Ventures, with participation from Curiosity VC and OBOS Oppstart. Investors cite Telescope’s rapid adoption in Norway as a key factor in their decision.
“The team has a deep understanding of real estate owners’ challenges in managing sustainability risks,” said Joachim Schelde, Senior Associate at Scale Capital. “Their momentum in Norway, securing multiple Tier 1 clients, signals a major opportunity to reshape how the industry addresses climate risk.”
Matilde Lyet, Principal at Dreamcraft Ventures, emphasized the platform’s practical applications. “Unlike generic sustainability tools, Telescope quantifies both risks and financial benefits, such as the impact of flooding or the ROI of energy upgrades. This enables property owners to make data-driven investment decisions.”
With fresh funding and proven market impact, Telescope is positioning itself as a key player in helping European real estate owners navigate climate risk while enhancing asset value.
