Vizcab, a French SaaS platform specializing in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to reduce the carbon footprint of construction projects, has secured an additional €4.5 million in Series A funding. This brings the total funding for the round to €9 million.
Founded in 2015, Vizcab’s AI-driven platform automates the calculation of CO2 emissions and LCAs throughout a construction project’s lifecycle. It connects various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, manufacturers, and construction companies, to optimize carbon performance, enhance operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, expedite ESG reporting, and support the journey towards net-zero emissions.
The European Union’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, aimed at achieving a decarbonized building stock by 2050, has increased the need for LCA services. This directive will require LCAs for buildings larger than 1,000 square meters by 2028 and for all buildings by 2030.
Dr. Thomas Jusselme, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Vizcab, noted the growing interest in automated LCAs due to the new regulatory landscape. He highlighted the exponential growth in demand for Vizcab’s products.
The funding round was led by KOMPAS VC and included investments from Global Brain, based in Tokyo, and Brick and Mortar Ventures from San Francisco. This investment bolsters Vizcab’s growth potential in the United States and the Asia-Pacific region.
Andreas Winter-Extra, Partner at KOMPAS VC, emphasized the increasing global demand for efficient LCA processes due to changing regulations. He stated that Vizcab’s technology is well-positioned to lead the transition towards carbon neutrality in the construction industry.
Hideyuki Tanaka, Director at Global Brain, pointed out that France is at the forefront of LCA regulation and praised Vizcab’s innovative operations. He predicted that LCA regulations would spread beyond Europe to Asia and Japan, further increasing the demand for Vizcab’s platform.
The new funding will support Vizcab’s expansion into new EU markets and meet the growing demand in France. In June, Vizcab plans to launch its first international module, targeting customers in 33 countries as part of its global expansion strategy.
