Conservation Labs, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, has successfully raised $7.5 million in Series A funding. The investment round was spearheaded by RET Ventures’ Housing Impact Fund, with additional support from Sustain VC.
The company’s primary focus lies in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to decode audio data, providing actionable insights within the built environment. This approach aims to mitigate carbon emissions while optimizing energy and water usage.
Under the leadership of Mark Kovscek, Founder, and CEO, Conservation Labs specializes in an edge-to-cloud AI platform capable of interpreting the sounds emitted by various objects. Their flagship offerings include:
H2know™: This innovative solution monitors water systems, offering invaluable insights, leak alerts, and personalized conservation recommendations. Through the deployment of smart sensors attached to water pipes, H2know™ leverages proprietary machine learning algorithms, trained extensively on pipe acoustics data. These sensors facilitate remote monitoring of individual units or entire buildings, ensuring efficient water management.
Sustainable Machines™: By analyzing the sound profiles of machines, this product predicts maintenance needs, consequently reducing operational costs and extending machinery lifespan. With a proven track record of enhancing maintenance efficiency and uptime, Sustainable Machines™ has garnered significant traction, with nearly 10,000 sensors already deployed nationwide.
The influx of capital from the Series A funding round will fuel Conservation Labs’ endeavors to enhance product development initiatives and bolster go-to-market strategies for both H2know™ and Sustainable Machines™.
Commenting on the news, Mark Kovscek said: “In a typical building, water is one of the largest consumers of energy; by reducing water usage our technology has also enabled buildings to cut their energy costs in a significant way. With this funding in hand, we’re excited to accelerate H2know™ deployments as well as build out other product lines that leverage our AI-powered edge to cloud platform.”
